Who we are

Trio Basilea was formed in Basel, Switzerland, in 2021 and has since grown and developed, driven by their shared ambition and passion for chamber music. Their strong rapport as an ensemble has been widely recognized, leading to significant achievements, including winning 1st Prize at the 2023 Orpheus Chamber Music Competition in Switzerland.

In 2022, Trio Basilea was one of only four piano trios selected to participate in the prestigious Trondheim Chamber Music Academy in Norway, where they had the privilege of performing with violist Miguel da Silva, founder of the renowned Ysaÿe Quartet. Most recently, they have been chosen as the Ensemble-in-Residence for the Musikdorf Ernen 2025 festival.

The trio has benefited from masterclasses with esteemed musicians such as Steven Isserlis, the Tetzlaff Quartett, Stefan Mendl, Péter Nagy, and Erich Höbarth. They are currently studying under Prof. Anna Gebert and Prof. Anton Kernjak at the Musik Akademie Basel.

REVIEWS

"These three 25-year-old musicians moved us. They managed to enchant us with their playing, with serious ease and without effort, sympathetic, talented, sensitive and precise. And the way they made eye contact with each other to coordinate harmony and precision - no single one seemed to be in a leading role!”

Madeleine Hirsiger - MUSIKDORF ERNEN
